Sources close to WCCFTech confirmed the product positioning of the whole stack of upcoming NVIDIA GeForce Ampere 3000 series cards, alongside their board numbers and tentative launch timeframes. The report adds further credence to claims that Ampere cards will arrive in September.

An exclusive WCCFTech report claims that most of the NVIDIA Ampere GeForce 3000 series product stack will arrive in September and October, with the top-end GeForce RTX 3080 Ti apparently less than a month away from release.

The report details the amount of VRAM each of these Ampere graphics cards will have as well as their purported board numbers. Going by the board numbers, it’s evident that the top-end Ampere cards will be based on 3 distinct GPUs, PG132, PG142, and PG190. PG132, the top-end board will be implemented as the RTX 3080 Ti, and two flavours of the RTX 3080.

This is interesting because it would mark the first time since the Kepler GTX 700 series that an x80 Ti part was based on the same GPU as an x80 part. The RTX 2070 Super replacement will evidently come in 16GB and 8GB flavours, with the 8GB variant releasing in September. Furthermore, a PG190 part is slated to replace the RTX 2060 Super at the bottom of the RTX gaming lineup.

One variant of the GeForce RTX 3080 is reported to launch a bit late in October. This is interesting since that would put it within weeks of AMD’s purported Big Navi launch. Recent reports indicate that Big Navi might be a competitor to the GeForce RTX 3080, and not the 3080 Ti, so it’d be interesting to see if either AMD or NVIDIA engage in a price war like they did when the RX 5700XT was launched.

Interestingly, the report claims that the nomenclature for NVIDIA’s Ampere cards hasn’t been finalised yet. This means that there is a possibility that this lineup might not be called the 3000 series, but something else entirely.
